Headmaster's Headlines - The Latest News About New Covenant Christian School
Dear NCCS Community,
Good morning and welcome to one of the last weeks of the school
year! No, I'm not back in my office yet. Thank you to those who
have been praying for me. For those who have not heard, I had colo-rectal
surgery to address a painful issue I've been dealing with for a long
time, but which reached a crisis level of pain last Saturday night.
I had surgery on Wednesday morning and have been recovering at home
since. I have a follow-up appointment with my surgeon today at 1:00
p.m., and I hope to be back at work tomorrow.
I want to thank Lisa Vowles, Brody Bond and Mike Stafford for
stepping up to take charge of the RVR retreat last week. I heard
the retreat was a great success. I look forward to hearing more.
Thank you!
Today is our 4th annual golf tournament at Geneva Farm Golf Course.
Thanks to all who arranged this tournament and to those who are
right now playing in it.
This Saturday, May 24th: Spring Fling! Fun and Games and Food and Prizes! Plus, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament! Come to the Grammar School on Saturday at 1:00 for all the fun and excitement. Sponsored by your NCCS Student Government. All proceeds will go to support Blood:Water Mission, a Christian non-profit organization that provides wells for clean drinking water in Africa.
Final Exams, Grades 5-9:
Next week is our Final Exam week for grades 5-9. I hope all of you
have been and will be studying for your final exams. For Upper
School students (Grades 7-9), final exams count as 10% of the final
year-end grade in each course. Each quarter is worth 22.5% of the
final overall grade.
We are also quickly approaching our last week of school, June 2-6.
Race for Education:
Wednesday, June 5th is our Field Day and Race for Education at
Glenangus Farm on MacPhail Rd. This year, both our Golf Tournament
and our Race for Education are focused on raising money for
technology upgrades for next year - $10,000 for computer upgrades
and $10,000 or our Upper School science lab equipemtn and supplies.
You can give directly to either of these technology projects or just
designate your gift for the "2008 Technology Project." You can give
online securely through our web site and PayPal, which accepts all
major credit cards (no PayPal account needed).

We rely on God's good provision for our every need through the
generosity of His people. We have been blessed so abundantly in the
past and we know God will continue to meet our every need in the
coming weeks, months and years. Thank you to those of you who have
been a part of God's provision for us. Please prayerfully consider
how you may be used by God to grow His work at NCCS in the future.
Maybe this would be a great use for part of your ecomonic stimulus
package from the federal government!
Awards Assembly/ Last Day, June
6th: I hope all of you will make plans now to
attend our Year-End Awards Assembly on Friday, June 6th at 9:00 at
the Grammar School. We are having one Awards Assembly for the whole
school, grades 1-9. It should last about two hours and then
children are dismissed directly from the Awards Assembly. So, if
you cannot attend the Awards Assembly, make sure you make plans to
pick up your children at the Grammar School at around 11:00 a.m. on
June 6th.
Ms. March has also been our of commission lately. Please pray for
Ms. March, as she is battling pneumonia and asthma at home. She
also has a doctor's appointment at 1 p.m. today.
Thank you for your support and involvement in the lives of your
children at our school. May God continue to be honored through our
efforts in His kingdom. Soli Deo Gloria! Pro Christo Rege!
In Christ's Love,
Jason A. Van Bemmel
